Migration - Leaving - is not a phenomenon of the 21st century.
Rather, it was always characteristic for European history. People left their home, because they were marginalized and discriminated, they were lookung for new opportunities, surviving in times, where prosperity laid in the hands of a few.
With this ongoing photo project, I am visiting sites where migration took place in the last centuries. Starting with my own family, I followed the path of my ancestors to the places, where they left their home. The next chapter will document places in Central Europe, where "Leaving" was an essential piece of its history.
All photos were taken with the Leica M system together with expired film. The color ones were developed with a special technique.
